Randolph County Farm Bureau Foundation Report By Ron Deterding, President
I would like to introduce myself as the new Foundation President. This Foundation has become what it is thanks to the one and only President they have previously had, Steve Stallman. Your service is very much appreciated. Thank you for making 2017 another successful year for the Foundation.
A special thank you goes to all of the people who have contributed to the Randolph County Farm Bureau Foundation during the past year. Without you, there would be no foundation, no scholarships, no educational materials for the classroom, or anything else that the Foundation accomplishes.
The Foundation was formed in 1994 so County Farm Bureau members and local communities could have a means to provide money to promote agricultural education and careers. Numerous businesses and industries have come and gone in our county, but agriculture has always been and will always be important to our county and to America. The importance of our industry needs to be taught in our schools and we also need to encourage and help our children to pursue careers in agriculture and agriculture related fields.
This year we awarded scholarships in the amount of $5,500 to qualified college students pursuing Agriculture careers. The RCFB Foundation committee awarded five scholarships to Amber Bleem, Kelby Burns, Bobbie Lake, Kevin Langrehr, and Jenna Inman. We are proud of all of our scholarship winners!
The Foundation portion of the profits from the Farm Bureau ice cream stand during the Grand American Shoots was $7,003. Our thirteenth annual Trivia Night in February brought in $1,548, 50/50 drawing at annual meeting earned $171, and $1,788 of donations came in with dues notices. A memorial gift to the Foundation is a wonderful way to remember someone. Also, if you are in the process of writing or re-writing your will, please consider the Randolph County Farm Bureau Foundation in your giving plans. What a wonderful way to leave a legacy that will encourage future generations to understand or work in the field of Agriculture. The same field that is your way of life; that you have worked for and have enjoyed!
I would like to thank the Foundation Board of Directors this year for all of their efforts, Kirk Liefer, Kevin Luthy, Jack McCormick and Richard Wegener and Steve Stallman. A special thank you to Rich and Donna Wegener for hosting our Trivia Night, and to the donors for the silent auction, and to all the volunteers who help make and sell ice cream at the shooting complex. Any donations to the Randolph County Farm Bureau Foundation are tax deductible! Thank You!
