About Us

What is Ag in the Classroom?

Ag in the Classroom (AITC) is our program with Illinois Ag in the Classroom to teach grade school students about where their food comes from, careers in agriculture, nutritional facts, and healthy eating, and meet farmers. Our coordinator, Andrea Kohring, works with teachers to provide lessons, hands-on experiences, and science experiments on agriculture to local students. For the 2022-2023 school year we are focusing on 3rd grade classrooms.

How are you funded?

Each year Illinois AITC provides a matching grant. If we raise over $8,500 we receive that much in a grant. Thanks to our Foundation, we are funded by donations in membership dues notices, our trivia night, Pull for Agriculture Education, and ice cream sales at the Grand American in August.

I’m a teacher, how do I schedule a visit?

Email aitc@rcfb.org to work with Andrea on a visit!

Farm Tours

Everyone loves when they can visit the farm, pet the animals, and meet the farmer. Here you can watch our videos of local farmers and see how a farm is ran whether you are in the classroom or at home. There are videos to go with the various growing seasons found right here in Randolph County!
