Our Committees.
Marketing
Chair: Michael McConachie
Marketing Committee works with farmers to educate them on marketing grain and hosts a market outlook meeting with Washington and Perry County. They also work with FS on training for pesticides and dicamba.
Livestock
Chair: Steve Uffelmann
Our livestock committee meets to discuss any issues producers are facing and discuss feeds, new rules with EPA or IDOA, and any new diseases or pests. About once a year, they host an educational meeting for members.
Ag in the Classroom
Chair: Lexi Birritier
Ag in the Classroom teaches our local students about agriculture in Illinois and Randolph County. This committee guides the coordinator, helps with our Ag Expo to students in February, and judges poster contest.
Viewpoint
Chair: Tim Harle
Viewpoint committee reviews the Illinois Farm Bureau bylaws and looks for additions and amendments. They work closely with issue management to see what is happening in the county.
Governmental Affairs
Chair: Tim Harle
Governmental Affairs works with our local legislators and our adopted legislator from Lake County, north of Chicago. Every year, we try to meet with our adopted legislator and work well with our local ones.
Public Relations
Chair: Diane Schoenbeck
Public Relations promotes Farm Bureau and the many benefits of being a member. They work with the community on education about agriculture, rural road safety, and rural living through the local paper and radio.
Issue Management
Chair: Tim Harle
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
Women’s
Chair: Christine Smith
Women’s Committee works on education for the community on agriculture, sells barn quilts, and also creates a tour at the Grand American for the families of the shooters. This group works on food pantry donations as well.
Young Leaders
Chair: Kayla Cowell
Young Leaders is a group for members ages 18-35 to connect and network. Our Young Leaders has an activity at every monthly meeting, participates in state functions, and supports our local 4-H and FFA chapters.
